A stunning 5-mile out-and-back trail through lush hemlock forest along Dodd Creek, leading to a series of breathtaking waterfalls and the dramatic Raven Cliffs — a sheer rock face with a waterfall cascading through a narrow cleft. Difficulty: Moderate.

A charming family-run lavender farm just outside Dahlonega. Walk through fields of purple in summer, then browse the shop for lavender essential oils, bath products, and seeds. Lavender ice cream in July. A sensory experience off the typical Dahlonega tourist path.

One of the most spectacular gorges in the eastern U.S., Tallulah Gorge offers dramatic views nearly 1,000 feet deep. The North and South Rim Trails loop 3 miles around the gorge with stunning overlooks. A permit is required to hike to the gorge floor. Difficulty: Moderate.

An 1815 stagecoach inn on the Unicoi Turnpike, now a National Historic Landmark. Most visitors to North Georgia skip right past this quiet site, but it's a beautifully preserved piece of early American travel history with fascinating stories.
